I went up to campus to buy the rest of my books and to figure out where my classes are. They don't like to do things the easy way around here. The manuals are just randomly placed on bookshelves, so you have to go through all of them to find what you're looking for. I really miss the Union bookstore right now. I looked on every shelf and still couldn't find the manual to my biochem class.

It was easy to find my classes with a campus map, except... Back at KU, if you have a class that meets two or three times a week, you go to the same classroom every time. Not here. For example, for Ecology I have to attend two lectures in two different buildings per week. On top of that, I have my practical, seminars, and a computer lab all in different buildings as well. Same for the others too.

Salsa Dancing and Lighthouses

Last night I went out salsa dancing. I sort of picked it up after awhile. Lots of fun when I wasn't tripping over myself! I need to look into joining a club that doesn't exist at KU, like fire dancing ;). I also saw the cities Surf Club Rowing (rowing in the ocean) team out at the beach yesterday too. I'm seriously thinking about doing that if the water isn't too cold.

Today after dinner a few of us went out for ice cream and coffee. The two lighthouses were lit up and the freighters were visible out in the distance, so we went down to the harbor for awhile to look around. Very pretty at night.

Thirsty Koalas

Koalas are able to go without water for long periods of time, except during bush fires. These pictures are from Victoria.

Mount Keira

I made it to the top of Mt. Keira yesterday with only one leech! It got me good though. I bled through my shoes and jeans. I managed to make it back down without catching any more by walking quickly/sprinting. And no, it didn't hurt. You can't even feel them. They're easily removed with salt or Tabasco sauce.

City of Wollongong below.

Today I took a tour of the campus, and it was kind of a waste of time since we had campus maps anyways. Went down to the beach for about an hour afterwards, ate dinner, and then went bowling. Scored 80 on my first game, and 104 on second.

We have a small library in the House were people leave their textbooks. I found all but one, which will save me about $400. I think that was the best part of my day =)

Chris sent this to me today. Thanks Chris. I'm right between the sharks and giant spiders, but at least ours don't have frickin' lasers.

So I tried Vegemite at breakfast this morning. It was terrible. Reminded me of really salty, concentrated soy sauce. I think I'll just stick with my peanut butter. I also saw Vegemite and spaghetti today. Speaking of spaghetti, I've seen people eat spaghetti for breakfast, but not for dinner yet.

I just got back from a bar, but it wasn't really a bar. It was a bowling club, but I never saw any bowling alleys. Just pool and slot machines. I guess the point of my story is... I thought we were going bowling at the BOWLING CLUB and we didn't lol. It was probably there and I just didn't see it. I played pool though, and their pool balls are smaller. It started raining pretty hard on our way down there, so we were drenched and never dried off.

Tomorrow we'll be hiking up Mt. Keira to get a good view of the area and maybe see some kangaroos! I hear there are lots of leeches up there though =/. We'll see how it goes...
